Studio Jouan and Soundforms
Studio Jouan joins Soundforms as commercial partner
Studio Jouan is delighted to announce our new commercial partnership with Soundforms. Created by conductor Mark Stephenson, the architects Jason Flanagan & Paul Bavister, acoustician Ian Knowles from Arup, and staging specialist Oliver Watts in 2010, Soundforms is a high quality open-air stage, a step-jump improvement acoustically and aesthetically on traditional tented stages filling a gap in the open-air concert staging market.
The adventure began with the deployment of a prototype shell and located in the Olympic Park, during the London 2012 Olympics. Sponsored by Universal Music and tested by the London Philharmonic, over 1000 musicians and bands performed in the performance shell over 5 weeks.
Since London 2012, the performance shell has been optimised with better sightlines, customised and upsized as an asset to the San Diego Symphony Orchestra, located at its spectacular bayside-performance park, the Rady Shell at Jacobs Park. Maestro Rafael Payare, Conductor of the San Diego Symphony says: “We can hear each other wonderfully and you feel like you are in one of the top-notch concert halls in the world.”
Studio Jouan joins the partnership of architects, developers and engineers, including Flanagan Lawrence, Arup, ES Global,
L-Acoustics, IMG Artists, Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, Sound Diplomacy and Expedition.
