The Palais Bourbon is the home the French Assemblée Nationale. In 2023, a competition was held to improve the visitor facilities with new exhibition spaces, a 145 seat auditorium and ancillary spaces.
The purpose of the project to restructure the public reception areas and create mediation spaces at the Palais Bourbon is to provide the National Assembly with a fully renovated and efficient place that will reflect the desire to open it to the public. Indeed, the current reception areas are not functional, particularly in terms of accessibility, and are not very efficient with small spaces and deteriorated working conditions for staff. The National Assembly has therefore decided to undertake major renovation and extension work in order to meet the desire to offer a new visiting experience to the public, beyond the visit to the exceptional heritage spaces and in particular the Hemicycle.
Working with Japanese Architects SANAA, Studio Jouan provided the acoustic design of the design proposals.
The laureate of the competition is Moatti-Rivière Architects.
