For this competition project with Aix-en-Provence based Stéphane Fernandez, Studio Jouan provided the acoustic design for the Cité de la Danse in Toulouse.

The project consists of a dance conservatory with 2 large dance studios and 4 smaller dance studios as well as many other public reception areas, a sound and digital editing studio, dressing rooms, office spaces for staff (open space offices and meeting rooms), storage spaces and workshops.

For the dance studios, two of them, Studio Scène and Studio 1 (the largest) were adjoining and separated by a movable wall to form a large Studio welcoming an audience. However, as they will have to be able to be used separately and simultaneously, box-in-the-box constructions were proposed.

The laureate of the competition is Toulouse-based Architect Bernard Desmoulin.
