Pyramid of the Louvre

Paris, France

Studio Jouan, with the support of the LAM team from the Institut d'Alembert, Sorbonne Université/CNRS, provided a preliminary study for the Pyramid of the Louvre Museum in Paris. The Pyramid, an emblematic and iconic construction of the Louvre Museum, was designed by the Chinese-American architect I.M. Pei and inaugurated in March 1989.

The study focuses on the analysis of the acoustic conditions of the Hall Napoléon, the main reception hall located under the Pyramid with a series of proposed acoustic options for the hall.

This work consisted of a series of acoustic measurements on site, an acoustic model of the hall as well as an immersive demonstration at the CNRS consisting of an auralization in binaural 3D sound and visualization on an Oculus headset with recreation of the acoustic conditions of the Napoleon hall for each option offered.
