Musée du Grand Siècle

St Cloud, Paris, France

Competition with Stanton Williams and Patrick Mauger

The finalist project for the Musée du Grand Siècle, in St Cloud near Paris, aimed to transform the Caserne Sully, a former military complex in the Parc de Saint-Cloud overlooking the Seine into a new museum entirely dedicated to 17th-century art and culture with a superb collection by the painter Nicolas Poussin.

The vision of the project was to reimagine the Caserne Sully through sensitive adaptive reuse, creating an immersive journey through the Grand Siècle.

In collaboration with London architects Stanton Williams, Paris Patrick Mauger Architectes and Architecte en Chef des Monuments Historiques Pierre-Antoine Gatier, the proposed project went beyond the concept of a white cube gallery to create interactive and immersive spaces that brought Pierre Rosenberg’s extraordinary collection to life.

Sébastien Jouan was the project director at Theatre Projects in charge of the acoustic design.

The laureate of the competition is Ruddy Ricciotti.
