Renzo Piano Building Workshop

The Modern Wing designed by Renzo Piano was built between Michigan Avenue and Columbus Drive, on the northeast corner of the Art Institute of Chicago block and adjacent to Millennium Park and its centerpiece, Frank Gehry's famous Jay Pritzker Pavilion. The new wing completes the museum's cultural and urban campus.

The Modern Wing features brand new galleries for the Art Institute's renowned collection of modern European painting and sculpture, as well as its landmark collection of contemporary art, including works by artists using video and other new media.
