NUI Galway
Galway, Ireland
RMJM, in collaboration with Taylor Architects and Arup for acoustics, was commissioned to develop a new engineering building for the National University of Ireland in Galway.
The new 14,000m² building provides a holistic, state-of-the-art 21st century learning environment for the newly restructured Engineering and Computing Hub, bringing together the University’s five engineering departments: Civil, Electronic, Industrial, Hydrology, Mechanical and Biomedical.
The concept was conceived as a ‘pavilion in the park’; the new engineering building stands as a gateway to the North Campus, reflecting a similar relationship between the original 1863 quadrangle and the South Campus.
