Novello Theatre

London, UK

As part of the rehabilitation of several historic London theatres owned by Cameron Mackintosh, the Novello Theatre (formerly the Strand Theatre) has been completely refurbished in a period style by RHWL Arts Team (now AEDAS Arts Team).

The exterior of the building has been cleaned, newly designed illuminated signage has been added and the original canopy over the entrance has been restored. The marble in the entrance hall has been revived and the decorative elements of the plaster ceiling have been highlighted. The stalls and balconies have also been extended and refurbished in the period style, changing the acoustic characteristics. Additional facilities have been provided and original listed features have been retained.

Sébastien Jouan was part of the Arup team that worked with RHWL Arts Team on several Cameron Mackintosh theatres, including the Prince of Wales Theatre and the Queens & Gielgud Theatres.
