Musique du Tout Monde Exhibition

Musée de la Musique, Philharmonie de Paris, France

Originally conceived by Christian de Portzamparc and opened to the public in January 1997, the “Musée de la Musique” presents, in approximately 2000sq.m of permanent exhibition spaces, nearly a thousand works, musical instruments and objects of art. The museographic programme is mainly chronological and evoke the history of Western music from the end of the Renaissance to the end of the 19th century, through the presentation of major works from the repertoire.

The journey ends with a presentation of musical instruments from non-Western cultures. The audience completes the journey in music, by hearing recorded musical extracts or musical moments proposed by musicians.

The project, designed by exhibition designers Projectiles, consists on the rehabilitation of two spaces of the museum hosting the African and Asian musical instruments collection.

Studio Jouan provided acoustic design for these two newly rehabilitated spaces.
